About the event
The Newport Prairie Project was launched in the summer of 2022 by former members of The Newports, the 9-piece blues/rock/soul band Bill Bielby co-founded in eighth grade and reconvened in Harbor Country Michigan in 2014. Based in Buchanan, Michigan, The Newport Prairie Project brings an eclectic
blend of blues, alt-country, and prairie rock to life during Harbor Country’s summer and fall seasons. Their playlist features a mix of original songs alongside the band’s unique interpretations of works by artists like Little Walter, Buck Owens, Tom Waits, Larkin Poe, and Bob Dylan. In addition, the band's alter ego pops up occasionally in Harbor Country performing the blues as “The Newport Blues Project.”
